The Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company is 1 of 8, 100% volunteer fire companies in Caroline County, Maryland on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  Greensboro V.F.C. provides Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of "The City" of Greensboro and surrounding areas close to "The City". Greensboro V.F.C. also has mutual aid agreements with all other towns in Caroline County, and surrounding counties such as Talbot

and Queen Anne's County Maryland, as well as Kent County Delaware.

 

First Due Body Shop Fire

February 2, 2010

At 0741 hours units were dispatched to 26463 Boyce Mill road for a building fire. Chief 6 went O/L and reported a single story 4 bay body shop with heavy fire showing. Officer 615(House) established "Boyce Mill Rd Command." The crew from Engine 603 started making a interior attack when it was determined by command the structure was unsafe and ordered a evacuation of the building. Tower 310 set up for master stream operations and command requested 3 additional tankers and 2 additional engines to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's office. Units operated for 3 hours and 40 minutes before clearing the call. Units Assist Goldsboro On House Fire

January 31, 2010

At 1331 hours units were dispatched to assist Station 700(Goldsboro) with a house fire in the area of 15161 Drapers Mill Rd. E-703 went O/L and reported a single story house with heavy smoke showing. Officer 716(Cahall) established "Drapers Mill Rd Command." E-603 and Rescue 600 arrived and were assigned ventilation while the tanker assisted with water supply. Units operated for 3 hours and 15 minutes before clearing at 1646 hours. Thanks to Church Hill Engine 55 for standing by during the incident. Tanker And Rescue Assist Denton On 2 Alarm Fire

January 11, 2010

Just before 1000 hours Tanker 606 was special requested to assist Denton on a working house fire at 7860 Melvin Road. First alarm units were on location with a 2 story farm house that was well involved. Shortly after the tanker was alerted Rescue 600 was requested to the scene as communications was back filling the second alarm. Crews operated for a little over 2 hours before returning to quarters.

Volunteers Staff Station During Snow Storm

December 19, 2009

Today about 20 members took turns staffing the station while the area got about 20 inches of snow. During this time some members reviewed hose lays and added some additional hose to the brush truck. Other members took time to do maintenance checks on the apparatus ensuring that all saws and other equipment was in working order. The junior members spent the morning in town digging out hydrants. We would like to thank all the volunteers who took time away from their families to staff the station. We would also like to thank all the families of our members for allowing them to volunteer their time to serve their community.

Tanker Assist To Felton

December 16, 2009

At 1221 hours Tanker 606 was alerted to assist Kent County Delaware Station 48(Felton) on a working house fire at 1045 Black Swamp Road. Tanker 606 arrived and was assigned to the water supply group suppling E-50-5 and Tower 50. The Tanker operated 2 hours before returning.

Rescue Box Greensboro Rd

 November 25, 2009

At 0325 units were dispatched for a MVC on Greensboro Rd in the area of Sandy Point Rd.  Paramedic 16 went on location with one truck overturned unable to advise if patients were inside.  Rescue 600 arrived and 618 established Greensboro Rd command.  The Rescue crew went to work stabilizing and working on the door pop.  The Engine crew pulled a hose line and put the TIC in service looking for patients.  No patients found after the doors were opened.  Command placed situation under control, units cleared at 0440.

Chief House Gets A Visit From The Stork

October 26, 2009

Today Chief House and his wife Emily had a visit from the stork. Dawson Burnite House was born at 0444 hours, weighing 10 lbs. 1 oz. Mother and baby are reported to be doing well and are expected home later this week. Congratulations!!!!

 

Working House Fire In Goldsboro

September 20, 2009

At 9:35 hours units were alerted to assist Goldsboro on a house fire at 25292 Goldsboro Road. Officer 715(Bartz) arrived on location to find a single story wood framed house with smoke showing and assumed Goldsboro Road Command. Engine 603, Tanker 606, and Rescue 600 responded on the call. The crew from Engine 703 made a quick knock on the fire an contained it to a kitchen fire. Engine 603's crew was assigned to assist Engine 703's crew with fire attack and overhaul. Rescue 600's crew also assisted with overhaul. Units operated for 2 hours before the situation was placed under control and returned to the station.

Working House Fire In Denton

September 8, 2009

At 23:26 hours units were alerted to assist Denton with a working house fire on Old Camp Road. Officer 317(Girvin) arrived on location to find a 2 story wood frame construction with fire throughout the 2nd story and assumed Old Camp Road command. Engine 603, Rescue 600 and Tanker 606 all responded on the call. Officer 616(Bambary) assumed the water supply officer while the crews from the Engine and Rescue went to work on the fire attack with Denton. Officer 615(House) was the safety officer. Due to the extent of the fire all crews were evacuated from the building as Tower 310 was placed in service to knock the bulk of the fire down. After the Tower made a knock on the fire crews re entered the building for extensive overhaul. Units operated for 3 hours before returning to the station.

MVC Involving A Tractor Trailer With Rescue

September 1, 2009

At 07:12 hours units were alerted for an MVC involving a tractor trailer with confirmed entrapment. Due to the time of day Officer 619 requested the next due engine and rescue to assist. Rescue 600 made the response and arrived on location to find 1 tractor trailer rolled over with entrapment and a log impaled into the passenger compartment pinning the driver. Officer 619 established Greensboro Road Command and advised Caroline to have a tractor trailer wrecker and State Highway respond for assistance with extrication. Command also requested aviation. The crew from Engine 405 and Rescue 700 assisted with extrication of the patient. While E-603 handled the landing zone. Due to the severity of the call and the impaled log all crews worked extensively to stabilize the load and the truck. Units operated for approximately 2 hours before placing the situation under control and returning.
