November Starts Off With Camper Fire

At 0812 Hours "The City" along with Station 700(Goldsboro) and Station 400(Ridgely) were dispatched to 13679 Drapers Mill Rd. for a camper fire with exposure to a garage. E-603 went O/L and reported heavy smoke showing from a camper. Officer 615(House) established "Drapers Mill Rd Command." Command placed the incident under control within 5 minutes holding the assignment to Station 600 units, along with the first engine and tanker from Station 400. Units operated for approx. 1 hour before clearing the scene at 0908 hours.

Command Unit Almost Ready.

The command is almost ready for delivery. The 2006 Ford Expedition that was purchased by GVFC to be placed in service as it's first "Command Unit" and will be designated as Chief 6. The unit is equipped with a Command Center and a Whelen LED Lighting Package, the conversion package is being completed by Singer and Associates of Easton. Chief 6 should be placed in service in December.

2 Alarm Fire In First Due

At 2113 hours,"The City" along with station 400 (Ridgely), 700(Goldsboro) and Tower 310(Denton) were dispatched to 208 Gramby Street for a reported house fire. Officer 615(House) went O/L and reported a two story structure 75% involved with extension to two exposures on the "Bravo" and "Delta" sides and immediately requested the second alarm. Chief House established "Gramby Street Command" E-603 arrived and pulled two 1.75 lines with Class A foam and made a quick knock on the exposures before making an aggressive interior attack. Crews had the bulk of the fire knocked within minutes. The second alarm companies were re-assigned to cover the first-due stations. The fire was placed under control at 2132 hours with "Extensive Overhaul". Companies operated for approx 3 and half hours before clearing the scene at 0040 hours.
