Park Rededicated To Curtis Harvey

Today at the 5th annual fishing derby the town commissioners rededicated the park near the carnival grounds. The park formally named The Choptank River Park was rededicated The Curtis Harvey Memorial Fireman's Park. Mayor David Spencer said it was a honor to rededicate the park to someone so near and dear to the community. Mayor Spencer went on reflecting on memories of Curtis at the carnival. Curtis Harvey was a active member of Greensboro VFC for over 27 years. During his years of service he served as Chief, President, and many other positions.

 

MVC Involving Bus In Denton

May 15, 2008

At 1722 hours Station 300(Denton) along with Rescue 600 were dispatched to Burrisville Road and Garland Road for a MVC involving a bus. Within seconds the Caroline County Sheriff's Department reported that the bus had approximately 40 passengers on board. The dispatch center then went to a phase 1 medical build up bringing A-692, PM491, PM791 and Trooper 6 to the scene. PM 391 went O/L and reported a 2 vehicle MVC involving a bus and a van. E-304 arrived and Officer 316(Lister) established "Burrisville Road Command." Command requested a additional engine to the scene which brought E-604. Rescue 600 arrived and was assigned to assist the crew from E-304 with the extrication of the patient in the van. After completing the extrication on the van the crew from the Rescue extricated the bus driver. While E-604 and A-692 were assigned to assist with triage. Approximately 10 patients were transported to the local hospital while 1 patient was air lifted by Trooper 6 to the trauma center. Units operated for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes before clearing at 1906 hours.

Units Assist Denton On Early Morning House Fire

May 16, 2007

At 0115 hours units were dispatched to 10645 River Road to assist units working on a house fire. As units arrived they were given assignment to assist with extinguishment and overhaul. Tanker 606 was assigned to the Water Supply Division. Units operated for approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes before clearing at 0430 hours. Assistant Chief Girvin had "River Road Command." MVC With Fly Out On Greensboro Road

May 28, 2008

At 1920 hours Units were dispatched to Greensboro Road and Hidden Woods Lane for a MVC. Chief 6 arrived and advised a 2 car MVC with 1 vehicle in the roadway. Officer 617(Harvey) established "Greensboro Road Command." Command determined the aviation would be needed. Rescue 600 arrived and secured the vehicle and assisted with patient care, while the Engine crew handled the LZ. 2 patients were air lifted to the trauma center. Units operated for approximately 1 hour and 5 minutes before clearing at 2025.

House Fire In Denton

May 31, 2008

At 1457 hours units were dispatched to 1227 Painted Fern Rd for a reported house fire. E-304 went O/L and reported smoke showing. Officer 323(Franklin) established "Painted Fern Command." Command advised they had a fire in the crawl space. E-603 arrived and was assigned to assist with fire attack, while Rescue 600 was assigned to RIT. Units operated for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes before clearing at 1617 hours. Thanks to Station 700(Goldsboro) for standing by.
