Working Fire In Ridgely

March 3, 2007

At 2342 hours units were dispatched to 9 N Maryland ave in Ridgely for a house fire reported working. Chief 4 went O/L and reported smoke showing. Officer 415(Hayes) established "North Maryland Avenue Command." Crews From RVFD made an aggressive interior attack putting a quick knock on the fire. The Crew from E-603 was assigned to ladder the structure and to establish a RIT Team. Units operated for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes before clearing at 0105 hours. New EMT

New Utility Placed In Service

March 13, 2007

At 1915 hours Greensboro VFC placed our new utility in service. The utility is a 2007 GMC equipped with BLS equipment, and some miscellaneous fire fighting hand tools. This unit replaces our 1989 Chevy Suburban which was sold to Goldsboro VFC. This unit will be designated as Utility 608.

 

Fatal MVC On Ridgely Road

March 17, 2007

At 0318 hours units were dispatched to Ridgely Road in the area of Holly Road for a MVC with ejection. Chief 6 went O/L with a vehicle vs. tree and advised the communications center that this call was actually in Station 400's area. However, since ours units were already on scene, GVFC would handle the call. Officer 615 (House) established "Ridgely Road Command." The driver of the vehicle, who was ejected, was pronounced dead at the scene. Crews operated for approximately 35 minutes before clearing the call at 0354 hours. The scene was turned over to MSP for investigation.

House Fire in Goldsboro

March 17, 2007

At 0608 hours units were dispatched to 15395 Church Lane in Goldsboro, for a house fire. While units were responding they were advised by the communications center that the call was received from an alarm company, the resident advised they had a fire inside the house. Officer 717 (Cahall) went O/L and advised smoke showing, and established "Church Lane Command." Command requested a 2nd EMS unit due to 2 patients with smoke inhalation.   E-603 arrived and was assigned to assist with the interior operations. Command was then passed to Officer 615 (House). Command then requested MSP aviation to transport 1 pt with smoke inhalation. Units operated for approximately 1 hour 20 min before clearing the call at 0729 hours.

City Runs Working Building Fire In Harrington

March 19, 2007

At 1112 hours units were dispatched to 258 Red Bird Lane, in Harrington for a building fire. Command 50 went O/L reporting heavy smoke showing. Officer 50-15 (Green) established "Red Bird Lane Command." E-603 was assigned to assist with the fire attack and to handle ventilation. Due to the unsafe conditions caused by the heavy fire load in the attic area, Command had units go to a defensive attack until the bulk of the fire was knocked. After the fire was knocked crews from E-603 and Utility 608 assisted with overhaul operations. Units operated for approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes before clearing the call at 1326 hours

2 Alarm Fire In Goldsboro

March 20,2007

At 0935 hours units were dispatched to 111 Maple Ave. in Goldsboro, for a gas leak with possible explosion. E-703 arrived and reported heavy fire showing and immediately requested a 2nd alarm. E-603 arrived and quickly went to work helping the crew from E-703 protect the exposures. Officer 615 (House) established "Maple Ave Command." After ensuring the the exposures were protected crews made an aggressive interior attack, until command requested a defensive attack due to the structure being unsafe. The crews from Tower 310 and Ladder 51-7 went to work with master stream devices, putting a knock on the remaining fire. Crews operated for approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes before clearing the call at 1324 hours. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office. **Members of GVFC would like to thank the Members of Goldsboro VFC Aux. for providing lunch after the call, and Ridgely VFC Canteen 4 for providing their services at Re-Hab**

2 Alarm Fire In Ridgely

March 27, 2007

At 0812 hours units were dispatched to 207 Park Avenue in Ridgely for a house fire. Chief 4 went O/L and reported heavy smoke showing. Officer 419 (Baker) established "Park Avenue Command." The crew from E-401 reported heavy fire load inside and due to short staffing command requested the 2nd alarm. E-603 arrived and the crew went to work assisting the crew from E-401 with interior fire attack. E-604 and Rescue 600 arrived and were assigned to ladder all sides of the dwelling for egress for interior crews, then relieved the crews already working on the interior. Crews operated for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes before clearing the call at 1100 hours. *** Thanks to Harrington VFC for standing by during the incident. ***
