Afternoon Storms Keep "The City" Busy

As storms moved into the area so did the calls. At 1535 Brush 602, Tanker 606, and E-604 were dispatched to 17198 Melville Road in Marydel to assist on a 2 alarm field fire. Shortly after units went O/L they were placed in service. At 1551 hours the units returning from the field fire along with Chief 6 E-603 and Rescue 600 were dispatched to 25610 Linhard Lane for a working shed fire. Chief 6 went O/L and reported a working shed fire and Officer 624(Harvey) established "Linhard Lane Command." Command placed situation under control within minutes holding Chief 6, E-603, Rescue 600, Tanker 406, Brush 403 and E-304. As units were clearing this call they were told to stand by to copy the 4-5 box. At 1608 hours E-604, Brush 602, Tanker 606 were dispatched to 11364 Central Avenue for a house fire as a result of a lightning strike. While units were en route command advised no hazard and the box was placed in service. Units made it back to quarters at 1637 only to be back on the street minutes later. At 1641 water rescue box 6-1 was dispatched for a vehicle stranded in standing water in the 600 block of W. Sunset Avenue. Within minutes Chief 6, Utility 608, E-603 and Rescue 600 were on the street. Chief 6 went O/L and place the box in service due to the vehicle being removed. "The City" operated for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with 20 volunteers.
Overturned Tractor Trailer On Whiteleysburg Rd

At 1117 hours units were dispatched to Whitleysburg rd in the area of Kibler Rd. for a overturned tractor trailer that was leaking fuel. U-608 went O/L and confirmed one tractor trailer on its side and requested EM2 from Queen Anne's County to pump off the tanks. Rescue 600 arrived and went to work containing the spill. when EM2 arrived the fuel was pumped off and units stood by while the truck was up righted. Units operated for just over 2 hours before clearing the call at 1331 hours. Firefighter Schoonover had "Whitleysburg Road Command."

The City Takes 2 Trophies At QAHVFC Parade
July 28, 2007
Tonight E-603, Rescue 600, Tanker 606, U-608 and Chief 6 attended QAHVFC's annual parade. Members had spent all day getting the apparatus cleaned. Tanker 606 took the trophy for best appearing tanker, and "The City" also took the trophy for best appearing fire company in the tri-county area.
