2007 Starts Off With Overturned Tractor Trailer

At 0724 hours E-604, Rescue 600, A-791 (Goldsboro) and PM56 (CCEMS) were dispatched to the area of Whitleysburg Road and Kibler Road for a MVC involving an overturned tractor trailer. Rescue 600 arrived and confirmed 1 tractor trailer carrying a load of chickens overturned in roadway. Officer 616 (Bambary) established "Whitleysburg Road Command." While securing the truck, a fuel leak from the saddle tank was discovered with approximately 20 gallons already on the ground. Command requested a response from The Maryland Dept. Of Environment and Queen Anne's Co. EM2 to pump off the remaining fuel and to assist with containment. Units operated approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes before clearing the call at 0944 hours.

Trailer Fire In First Due

Jan. 29, 2007

At 1541 hours GVFC, Stations 400 (Ridgely), 700 (Goldsboro) along with Tower 310 (Denton) were dispatched to 13200 Greensboro Road Lot 23 for a trailer fire . E-603 went O/L and reported 1 trailer, working fire with exposures. Officer 618 (Biddle) established "Taylor's Trailer Park Command". The crew from E-603 stretched a line and made a quick attack on the fire. Command was then passed to Officer 415 (Hayes) due to short staffing. Crews from 400, 700 and Tower 310 assisted with fire attack and overhaul. Command placed situation under control with units working at 1610 hours. Units cleared the call at 1706 hours.

GVFC Recieves AFG Grant

GVFC is pleased to announce that it has been selected to recieve a grant for 264,125.00 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) through the office of Homeland Security. This grant will be used to purchase Personal Protective Equipment and a in house air compresser for the cascade system. The Officers and Members would like to express their gratitude to Vice President Ed Stoner for his efforts in writing this grant.
