RIT Training

Tonight about 15 Members gathered at the station for the monthly training. This month's topic was Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). Crews practiced large area searches in the station as well as deploying a RIT team. Members also reviewed how to call a MAYDAY and give LUNAR information. The Drill was conducted by Deputy Chief Bambary.
2007 Awards Banquet

Tonight, members and guests gathered at the VFW for the Awards Banquet and Installation of Officers. After dinner, distinguished guests were introduced and Fire Chief Chip House, EMS Captain Marie Starkey and President Ed Stoner gave out several awards. Top awards were awarded to the Top Fire Responder Skip Miller, Firefighter of the Year Chris Cox, Officer of the Year Fletch Gowen, Chief's Award Marie Starkey, Curtis Harvey Award The Harvey Family, EMS Provider of the Year Greg Spiering and EMS Driver of the Year Jeff Siem. Auxiliary President Deana Bell presented President Ed Stoner a donation check. A dance followed the awards. We would like to thank the "Hilltop Volunteers" (Church Hill VFC) for providing a stand-by crew so we could enjoy the evening

Vehicle vs. Pole On E. Sunset

At 2000 hours units were dispatched to E. Sunset Ave. and Lincoln St. For a MVC with Injuries. Officer 615 went O/L and reported 1 vehicle vs. pole. Officer 615(House) established Sunset Ave. Command. Utility 608 arrived and secured the vehicle while PM491 located the patient at a nearby residence. PM491 transported 1 patient to a local hospital and units cleared at 2037 hours.

Training With Denton

Tonight members about 10 members headed to Denton to train with their members on ventilation and search and rescue. Crews worked with Deputy Chief Bambary on search and rescue training. Deputy Chief Bambary also reviewed how to breech a wall. Crews then reviewed ventilation techniques with Assistant Chief Girven and Firefighter Smith from Denton. We would like to thank Denton VFC for the opportunity to train with them.
