Building Fire At Nuttle Lumber In Denton
August 6, 2007
At 1743 hours units were dispatched to 701 Lincoln Street in Denton for a reported building fire. As units responded they were advised that the caller reported power lines on the building were arcing. When units arrived they confirmed the callers reports and advised that the wires had ignited the roof and wall of the structure. Officer 315(Makovsky) established "Nuttle Lumber Command" E-603 arrived and laid an secondary supply line from the hydrant. Once the power was secured crews went to work extinguishing the fire. The officers and members of the Greensboro VFC extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Master Firefighter (MFF) Cory Ball, and his extended family members of Denton VFC. Cory was struck and killed Monday Night while assisting a disabled motorist on Matthewstown Rd in Easton. Cory was a dedicated member of Denton VFC and was a top responder in both fire and EMS. MFF Ball's enthusiasm to help others was evident by his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Cory will be truly missed by all who knew him. Please keep Cory's family and Denton VFC in your prayers.

Another Tractor Trailer Overturned On Whiteleysburg Road
August 10, 2007
At 0644 hours units were dispatched to the area of 27449 Whitleysburg Road for a MVC with injuries reported to be a tractor trailer overturned. Rescue 600 arrived and reported 1 tractor trailer on its side partially in the roadway, and 1 dump truck off the roadway into a ditch. Officer 616 (Bambary) established "Whiteleysburg Road Command." Crews ensured there were no leaking fluids from vehicles involved, and assisted PM692 with packaging their patient. Command requested EM2 from Queen Anne's County to assist with pumping out the fuel tanks, so that the truck could be up righted. PM692 transported 1 patient to the local hospital. Units operated for approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes before clearing at 0833 hours.

 Tanker Goes To Kent Island

Tanker 606 headed out this morning to go to Kent Island to assist with a training exercise. The Kent Island Vol. Fire Co hosted a multi company structural fire training drill with numerous live fire evolutions. Tanker 606 acted a nurse tanker during the training. Funeral Services For Master Firefighter Cory Ball

This morning at 1100 hours fire companies from all over the shore as well as some from the western shore gathered at Denton Fire Company to pay their last respects to master firefighter Cory Ball. Firefighter Ball who was killed when struck by a motorist last week , was one of Denton VFC's Top responders. Ball was carried to his final resting place at the Denton cemetery on Engine 304. Cory you will be missed.
Apartment Fire In Denton
August 18, 2007
At 2135 hours units were dispatched to 216 Market Street in Denton for a working apartment fire. Utility 308 arrived O/L and reported fire showing on the alpha side. Officer 316 (Lister) established "Market Street Command." E-603 arrived and was assigned to side ""Charlie" and stretched a second line into the structure. Crews assisted with salvage and overhaul operations. Units operated for approximately 2 hours before clearing at 2230 hours. Thanks to Harrington VFC for providing a transfer crew. *Just a note Harrington ran a odor of smoke in a structure while standing by*

Spaghetti Dinner

| The Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company Auxillary will be having a Spaghetti Dinner on Sept. 22nd 2007 from 4pm to 7pm. The dinner will be a sit down event but carryout will be available. Tickets are $7.50 for ages 12 and up and $5 for ages up to 12. |
